On the 20th of December, 2011, the Pre-Conference Sensitization forum was held at the British Council Hall in Accra. Present at the meeting was the honourable President of AfrEA, Dr. Florence Etta who’s visit to Ghana coincided with the Forum. Also present were Mrs. Dede Bedu-Addo, who is the Cooodinator of Ghana Monitoring and Evaluation Forum and are the Co-organizers of the 6th AfrEA Conference, which is to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre between the 9th to the 13th of January, 2012. Professor Akosua Adomako, director of the Institute of African Studies, University of Cape Coast and doubles as the Co-Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee with the Institute being the Conference Co-host. Welcoming invited guests was Mrs. Bedu-Addo, who drew the attention of all who were present on the need of the forum and thus paved way for the President of the Association. Dr. Etta briefed the gathering of the history of African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), where it started, how far the Association had come as well as the need for evaluation. She also pointed out that the key to development projects and assessment is development evaluation which has become essential for the growth of individuals, societies, and the country as a whole. Mr. Akunu Dake, the Master of Ceremony who also doubles as the Conference Manager then introduced Professor Adomako drew the attention of all and sundry on the urgent need of evaluation, rallying everyone to the conference as well as the need for locals (Ghanaians) to patronize this great opportunity. Speaking along the line, Professor Adomako emphasized the emergence of new paradigms and the need to understand these evaluation processes, need and skills. A variety of questions were answered by Dr. Etta from the gathering which includes invited and special guests, interest groups as well as the media.
